Year: 2024
Type: conference-abstract
Abstract: A 25 year old G1P0 woman referred to our Perinatology unit at 14 weeks. Patient missed her first trimester combine test and this was her first visit to hospital for this pregnancy. The mother had epilepsy for 16 years and she had been taking anti epileptic drugs (Levetiracetam). The ultrasound revealed a large inlet Ventricular Septal Defect and at three vessel trachea view a small aorta was present (as small as superior vena cava). The thymus gland was normal in size and there is no aberrant right subclavian arteries. At sagittal views of the fetus there was no transverse aortic arch and ascending aorta went through the neck of the baby directly. Although informed about the poor prognosis, parents rejected invasive procedures and termination of pregnancy. The patient is 22 weeks pregnant now, and pregnancy continues uneventfully. Pediatric cardiology unit informed about the patient for delivery planning and following up of the baby after delivery.
