Type: conference-abstract
Abstract: To study the association of maternal placental growth factor and fetal cerebro-umbilical ratio with perinatal outcome in low-risk term pregnancies. Antenatal women with gestational age 37 or more meeting inclusion criteria were enrolled and subjected to detailed history and examination followed by Doppler ultrasound along with Cerebro-Umbilical Ratio and PLGF measurement by ELISA kit. Patients followed till delivery for primary and secondary outcomes which were intrapartum fetal compromise and serious neonatal outcome respectively. Total 110 patients were analysed. Total 32.7% (36/110) patients had intrapartum fetal compromise (IFC) in which mean CPR and PLGF was 1.08 and 11.85 respectively while 63.7% (74/110) had no intrapartum fetal compromise with mean CPR and PLGF 1.39 and 124.72 respectively. Total 20.9%(23/110) patients had serious neonatal outcome and mean CPR and PLGF in this group was 0.97 and 14.0 respectively while 70.9%(87/110) patients had no serious neonatal outcome in which mean CPR and PLGF was 1.37 and 107.28 respectively. Out of patients with IFC 52.8%(19/36) had serious neonatal outcome. Mean CPR and PLGF were significantly low in patients with intrapartum fetal compromise and most of these patients; 52.8%(19/36) had serious neonatal outcome. Thus CPR and PLGF both in combination can be used as screening tools at term for detecting patients with fetal distress. Thus combined CPR and PLGF can be used to stratify at-risk pregnancies which in turn will guide in decision-making regarding mode and place of delivery.
