EP16.54: Antenatal ultrasound and MR evaluation of placenta accreta spectrum disorders: clinical correlation done!
Year: 2024
Type: conference-abstract
Abstract: Due to its unique clinical settings, the diagnosis of Placenta Accreta Spectrum [PAS] often require high degree of confidence and specificity. The diagnosis of PAS leaves little room for the uncertainties and requires specific answers for the prompt intervention and patient management. Combined approach involving the clinical parameters and the relevant Ultrasound – MRI findings increase the diagnostic accuracy. Imaging-based assessment requires checklist approach with risk scores as illustrated in the presentation. US checklist – Loss of Retro-placental Clear Space, Abnormal Intraplacental Lacunes [IPL], Uterine-Bladder Interface Echogenicity, Focal Myometrial thinning/defects, Abnormal Uterine Contour/Placental Bulges, Focal Exophytic Mass. Uterine-Bladder Interface Vascularity, Subplacental Complex Vascularity, Bridging Vessels, Intraplacental Lacune Feeders, Intra-/Subplacental Hypervascularity. MR checklist – Dark Intraplacental bands on T2WI, Focal Myometrial Thinning / Defects, Abnormal Intra-/Subplacental Vasculature, Abnormal Placental Contour / Bulge / Edges, Uterine-Bladder Interface, Loss of Retroplacental dark zone (T2WI), Heterogeneous Placental Signal Intensity.
