Year: 2024
Type: conference-abstract
Abstract: The aim of the present study is to investigate if there is any difference between male and female fetuses in the Crown–rump length (CRL) values measured in the first trimester scan. The present cohort study included pregnant women that consecutively underwent a first trimester scan in the two different fetomaternal centres in Central Greece during a nine-month period. A prospective database was created included basic demographics, medical history, fetus sex and CRL values. Informed consent was obtained from all participants. Experimental therapeutic protocols are not applicable in this study. All data were analysed anonymously using code numbers with respect to the patient's privacy and collected in the context of routine diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS version 26.0. In total 255 singleton pregnancies were included in our study. In the statistical analysis, there was no statistically significant difference between the mean value of CRL measured in the first trimester scan and fetus sex (p = 0.402). In conclusion, our study did not find any difference in early pregnancy growth pattern between male and female fetuses.
