P. 3, left column, line 1 (PDF edition) currently reads: ‘and up to one-third of described modern marine species, globally (23–32%, without considering those yet to be described, possibly twice as many: …’ This was a misinterpretation of the data, and should instead read: ‘and up to 15% of predicted modern marine species (it is thought that only 23–32% of gastropod species are currently known: …’ We apologize for this error.
