Abstract: The understanding of schizophrenia has remarkably expanded over the past few decades, moving beyond the dopamine hypothesis to encompass neurotransmitter interplays, structural brain changes and genetic and environmental determinants. This has led to innovations in therapeutic interventions that offer improved outcomes. This paper explores past and current treatments available for schizophrenia, the latest pharmacological advances and the significance of psychotherapeutic approaches.
