Fingolimod, a sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor modulator, prevents neonatal bronchopulmonary dysplasia and subsequent airway remodeling in a murine model

Type: article
Abstract: The role of the S1P receptor1 modulator, fingolimod, as an FDA-approved drug in preventing the recurrence of multiple sclerosis is established. Fingolimod prevented bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and its sequela of airway remodeling in a neonatal murine model. This protection was associated with the downregulation of lysyl oxidase signaling pathway. Fingolimod could be repurposed for the therapy of BPD.
