Monitoring of the insulation resistance in the power supply system of the aerodrome ground lights

Abstract: This article is devoted to the analysis of importance and peculiarities of the monitoring of the aerodrome ground lights power supply system insulation resistance, as well as the practical issues of its measurements and evaluation with the maintenance purposes. The requirements of international standards and recommended practices are observed and analyzed. On their bases the normalized values of insulating resistance for the elements of power supply system of aerodrome ground lights are grounded. Also the detailed algorithm of monitoring of the insulation resistance in the power supply system of the aerodrome ground lights is developed, which is in compliance with international and national requirements. The implementation of this method in practice will increase the efficiency of aerodrome ground lights maintenance system thus contribute in higher level of aircrafts’ flight safety at the visual piloting phase.
