Abstract: Scientificity is the bedrock of National Natural Science Fund, while fairness is its lifeblood. The scientific, fair and impartial completion of project review is a critical element in improving funding efficiency, fostering technological innovation, and advancing the upgrade of scientific system. This article introduces the pilot work of the “Responsibility, Credibility, Contribution” (RCC) evaluation mechanism in the Department of Chemical Sciences at NSFC from 2021 to 2023. It encompasses statistical analysis on data related to “responsibility” and “credibility” indicators, summarizes interim achievements and pilot experiences, and offers policy recommendations and implementation measures for future endeavors.
