Parastomal hernia as possible cause of conduit perforation accompanied by fecal lithiasis on old suture stitches

Year: 2024
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: The objective of this article is to report a case of ovarian cancer presenting ileal conduit perforation and parastomal hernia (PH), associated with intestinal stitches lithiasis.PH has been associated with the appearance of ileal conduit complications. In addition, perforation has been reported as one of the long-term complications of ileal conduits. We report the case of a 47-year-old obese woman presenting ileal conduit perforation accompanied by fecal lithiasis.Spontaneous ileal conduit perforation is an acute, life-threatening event.Urinary stone formation around the nucleus of sutures has been reported as another complication of ileal conduit but infrequently as fecal lithiasis formed around the old, non-absorbable suture used for gastrointestinal reconstruction.
