Year: 2024
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: The term DRESS was introduced in 1996 to describe a drug reaction with eosinophilia, skin eruption and systemic symptoms. Potentially fatal drug reactions include three distinct entities: DRESS syndrome, acute generalized exanthem and Stevens-Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis. We report a case of DRESS syndrome in a female patient who attended Hospital de San José in Bogotá, for presenting a cutaneous reaction induced by trimethroprim/sulfamethoxazole. The physiopathology, diagnosis, clinical features and treatment, are outlined herein.
