Abstract: The authors develop a theoretical framework for describing the light-matter interaction in extended Josephson junctions. They show that each such junction can host multiple plasmon modes, each encoding a qubit, and that it is possible to address each qubit mode individually with frequency-momentum-selective coupling, which could prove useful in future quantum simulation or computing applications.
