Abstract: Music has accompanied a person all his life. Various rituals, leisure time, creativity, and self-expression were accompanied by music. Centuries passed, musical instruments, speech changed, civilization developed, while music also underwent natural changes in the process of transmission from generation to generation. These changes were associated not only with the appearance of new instruments, with the change of times, but also with the fact that the music was not recorded, it could only be remembered by ear, sometimes roughly repeating the melody. In such cases, the musician's hearing could be suppressed, the author's accents were introduced into the musical work, as a result of which the original melody changed beyond recognition. It also took a lot of time to learn how to play a certain melody. The need to find a way to preserve musical melodies led to the creation of musical notes. Through the efforts of many generations, more and more advanced systems for recording the sound of music in musical notation were created. In our article we will talk about the “Durr-i mufassal” system, studied by scientists who lived in the IX-XIII centuries, which at one time was not very popular, and then was adopted by Europe as a kind of system that served as the emergence of a unique musical notation.
