Year: 2024

Type: article

Abstract: We report the first record of a Red Giant Gliding Squirrel Petaurista petaurista albiventer in the Sattal area of Nainital District, Uttarakhand, India. We sighted three Red Giant Gliding Squirrels in the canopies of oak trees on 28 March 2024, between 1900 and 2200 h. This adds to the known distribution of the subspecies within India. The multiple forest fires during the survey highlights a potential threat to the region’s biodiversity.
