Fabrication and Thermoresponsive Properties of Thin Copolymer Films of Poly-n-isopropylacrylamide and Acrylamide

Abstract: A new technique for fabrication of thin poly-N-isopropylacrylamide and acrylamide copolymer f lms on glass and silicon is proposed. The methodology is based on pre-copolymerization of monomers followed by crosslinking of polymer chains during spin-coating. The effect of temperature on hydrophobicity of the obtained f lms is studied. Reversible changes of the contact angle are demonstrated upon temperature variation above and below 35 °C.
