Flexible AgNW/PDMS nanocomposite for strain and pressure sensing
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Advances in bioelectronic sensors can significantly enhance wearable technology for monitoring and interactive applications. This paper details the fabrication and characterization of a silver nanowire (AgNW) and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) nanocomposite sensor designed for simultaneous strain and pressure sensing. The piezoresistive sensor demonstrated the ability to detect compression and tensile strains with linear response and minimal hysteresis, capable of measuring cyclic strains from 0.5% to 40%. The sensing mechanism involves increased disconnection between the AgNWs and topological changes under longitudinal strain. AgNW/PDMS-based bioelectronic sensors can enhance wearable technology for diverse applications.
