Abstract: Based on the bibliometric method, VOSviewer software was used to search the relevant articles in the field of carbon emissions published in Web of Science (SCI-E) and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) Database during 2000 to 2023.The article provides a visual analysis of the literature characteristics, research status, and hot trends in this field. The results show that the number of international publications is generally on the rise, in which China has the largest number of publications, but its academic influence is relatively small. The common international hotspot direction is the impact of economic growth on carbon emissions and climate change. The research hotspots in many countries are mostly in carbon performance, atmospheric particulate matter and sources of air pollution, while the research hotspots in China are carbon emission reduction, carbon trading and carbon emission accounting. The potential development space for China in the field of carbon emissions includes refining carbon emission policies, improving carbon emission trading systems, and improving the quality of carbon emission accounting data.
