Abstract: The increasing prevalence of distributed energy resources presents stability challenges to power systems during the optimization of energy structures. Currently, integrating photovoltaics with hybrid energy storage and implementing an adaptive VSG strategy into the grid emerges as an effective solution to mitigate these challenges. This paper explores the operational characteristics of energy storage to select a hybrid energy supply consisting of batteries and supercapacitors. It then proposes a power allocation control strategy for the hybrid energy storage system. By investigating the influence mechanism of virtual inertia and damping on the dynamic characteristics of active power, frequency, and system stability, we design an inertia-damping coordinated adaptive control strategy that considers the dynamic characteristics of the hybrid energy storage system. After simulating and comparing under load disturbance conditions, the strategy proposed in this paper demonstrates the capability to adaptively match inertia damping, resulting in improved active power and frequency stability of the system. Furthermore, it facilitates the coordination of dynamic characteristics between VSG and hybrid energy storage system, thereby presenting significant value for applications in novel scenarios.
