Abstract: Television self-promotion remains largely unknown in audiovisual education and is often ignored in most academic works. The objective of this project is to highlight the value of this profession as a potentially essential tool for teaching students the various disciplines involved in producing an audiovisual piece, focusing especially on scriptwriting, which we consider the backbone of any audiovisual project, but also including direction and post-production. The methodology that has been followed is, firstly, a review and update of pioneering methods of teaching innovation, related to practice, such as Learning by Doing or Service Learning (ApS). The results section presents the development of the specific program that guides students to collaborate in groups, rotating in each piece by specialty. In the discussion section, we evaluate the extent to which the format of self-promotion is a better teaching tool than other types of pieces such as short films. The conclusions of the study indicate that using real assignments directly from industry examples stimulates the students by connecting them with tangible objectives while inspiring their imagination by compelling them to make creative decisions.
