Abstract: How can we meaningfully bring wider publics into conversations about the value of sociological thinking and make sociology matter in the world today?"This workshop aimed to answer that question. It was structured around a set of questions to discuss and to share insights.1) How can we best communicate our work beyond academia) 2) How are sociological insights searched for and located? 3) What is the role of key take-away messages and memorable concepts in our work?4) How can we make, find and cite alternative outputs such as podcasts and YouTube videos, blog posts and conference presentations? The workshop was interactive, with attendees invited to bring along their own examples, questions and solutions. The speakers also hoped for input from attendees who have experience with using and citing creative outputs, and who are good at disseminating and advertising their work.
