Abstract: Public international law has originally influenced rules on jurisdiction. Such a unidirectional influence seems now indirectly challenged by the approach followed by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in a number of cases. The aim of the present work is to examine the case law of CJEU concerning the interpretation of European regulations on jurisdiction in civil and commercial matters to evaluate the Court's role in reshaping domestic approaches on State immunities, so to ultimately explore the indirect relevance of EU international civil procedure over substantive and methodological questions in the field of the law of State immunity.
