Abstract: The aim of this paper is to investigate the impact of public standards (SPS, TBT) on Sub-Saharan Africa’s exports of food, which represent less than 3% of world food exports. This situation is accentuated by the standards on agricultural goods. A modest contribution has been made both theoretically and empirically. Theoretically, the basic model has been criticized and subsequently reformulated by incorporating the cost function of food production in the exporting country. This reformulation made it possible to build a model, the methodology of which was developed by several authors. Empirical analysis shows that SPS and TBT standards have a negative impact on agricultural exports of the Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries.
