Proposal of Design about Electricity Bill on Door Knob to Cognize and Induce Behavior for Energy Saving

Abstract: Recently, electricity bills, based on information comparing electricity usage with neighboring, have been being used to save electricity.However, information comparing neighborhood electricity usage has no significant effect on the Korea Energy Economics Institute report.As mentioned above, this research proposes the concept of the electric bill based on the strategy of smooth intervention as the nudge and interest-inducing as the gamification.For this purpose, illustrations, based on information on global warming, will be used in the concept of electricity bills.This is because illustrations have an effective effect on interest induction and participation in action.The experiment was conducted by comparing the concept design electricity bill implemented in the form of the electricity bill that can be hung on the doorknob with the existing design.As a result, it was confirmed that the concept design of the electricity bill based on an illustration containing information that accelerated global warming according to the use of electricity will have a positive effect on inducing electricity-saving behavior.The interview confirmed that the intuition, fun, privacy, and clarity of graphics work positively.In conclusion, it was confirmed that a change in the electricity bill based on the current nudge strategy will be needed.
