Abstract: The writers are grateful to the discusser for his detailed review and constructive critique of our paper.The discusser's comments include (1) requests for additional information on the excavation support system, construction sequence, jet grout pressures, and undrained strength of the marine clay; (2) interpretation of the field monitoring data (including some counterintuitive results); and(3) potential limitations of the numerical analyses performed by the writers.Here we attempt to address these three main items.
