Multiview Image Registration and Fusion Are Used For Machine Learning-based Lung Cancer Detection

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Researchers have focused their attention on the critical problem of accurately identifying lung cancer.Over the last two years, multiview single image and segmentation techniques have been widely used to improve lung cancer disease identification.Machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques can significantly speed up cancer detection and stage classification, allowing researchers to study more patients in less time and at a lower cost.Using the image segmentation approach here, the multiresolution rigid registration mechanism is applied to further enhance the segmentation. Methods such as principle component averaging and discrete wavelet transform are verified for the image fusion development. This work evaluates the performance of the proposed method using 4,682 computed tomography scan pictures of 61 individuals with nodules ranging in size from 3 to 30 mm.The lungs image database consortium, which is based on the Image Database Resource Initiative, is used for this testing. The study's conclusions state that our model's superior performance is attained in aspects of peak signal-to-noise ratio, which was measured at 19.25 and 0.80, respectively, and feature mutual information.Additionally, the ResNet-18 is also used to evaluate the detection and stages of lung nodule cancer (STG-1, STG-2, STG-3, and STG-4).classifierusing convolutional neural networks. The obtained accuracy and sensitivity for detection are 98.2% and 1.8 FP/scan, respectively.96.4% in that order. The results of the investigation demonstrate that our suggested approach performs noticeably better than current approaches.
