Intestinal diverticula in a domestic rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus)
Year: 2024
Type: article
Study design: Case Report
Abstract: Intestinal diverticula are a well-documented phenomenon in humans, but their occurrence and characteristics in domestic rabbits remain underexplored. While pseudodiverticula have been reported in rabbit species, true diverticula—with all layers from mucosa to serosa—are yet to be described. This case report presents a 3-yearold neutered female rabbit with an unusual presentation of true diverticula in the jejunum, leading to diverticulitis and partial intestinal obstruction.
