22.1 Standards of Care and Legal Landscape of Gender-Affirming Care Bans in the United States

Abstract: The Standards of Care Version 8 (SOC8) from the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) outline evidence-based practices for treating youth with gender dysphoria. This presentation will provide a brief overview of these standards of care, which include access to gender-affirming medical interventions. Many states in the United States have implemented gender-affirming care (GAC) bans for minors, which impacts interventions that clinicians can use when working with transgender youth.
