Abstract: The title dithiocarbazate imine, C11H11N3OS2, was obtained from the condensation reaction of S-methyldithiocarbazate (SMDTC) and 5-methylisatin. It shows a Z configuration about the imine C=N bond, which is associated with an intramolecular N—H...O hydrogen bond that closes an S(6) ring. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairwise N—H...O hydrogen bonds generate R 2 2(8) loops. The extended structure features C—H...S contacts as well as reciprocal carbonyl–carbonyl (C=O...C=O) interactions.
