Chiral Sodium Glycerophosphate Catalyst for Enantioselective Michael Reactions of Chalcones

Abstract: A chiral sodium glycerophosphate is successfully exploited as a catalyst in the Michael addition of methyl malonate to a number of chalcones. The reactions supplied the target adducts in satisfactory yields and good enantiomeric excesses. A tentative computational study is presented, aiming to understand the reaction mechanism.
