Abstract: Insulators are vital components in electrical transmission lines, playing a key role in preventing electrical discharge between the towers and the ground, which is essential for maintaining the reliability and safety of power systems. This paper delves into the enhancement of glass insulator strings through advanced numerical simulation techniques. Specifically, the study employs "COMSOL Multiphysics, sophisticated simulation software, to analyze the local electrical characteristics of insulators under a range of applied voltages and different levels of conductivity pollution-a common issue in real-world environments. By creating detailed 3D models of the insulators, the research meticulously simulates the behavior of electric potential and field distribution along the length of the insulators when subjected to alternating current (AC) voltage. This comprehensive analysis not only helps in identifying potential surface defects and weak points that may lead to performance degradation or failure but also offers crucial insights into the factors that influence the electrical performance of insulators. These findings are particularly valuable for improving the design and installation of cap and pin insulators in electrical networks, ensuring enhanced durability and operational efficiency. The study’s outcomes contribute to a deeper understanding of how environmental factors and electrical stress impact insulator performance, ultimately guiding the development of more resilient and reliable power transmission infrastructure.
