Abstract: Chad's role in stabilising the Sahel region, the privately owned Alwihda website reported on September 10th.Hungary's Foreign Affairs Minister Peter Szijjarto stressed that the cooperation was significant in addressing challenges, such as illegal migration and the terrorism threat that directly affect European security, the report said.It added that the partnership also included a loan programme of €150m ($165.8m) to €200m ($221m) to support development in Chad.Hungary and Chad have rapidly deepened security cooperation in recent months amid signals that France intends to reduce its military presence in Africa.Hungary plans to deploy up to 400 troops based outside the Chadian capital, N'Djamena, to support counter-terrorism efforts in a country seen as a reliable European ally in the restive Sahel region and help curb illegal migration.(Alwihda 10/9) DR Congo-France: DR Congo's foreign minister, Therese Wagner Kayikwamba, on August 26th expressed her "deep regrets" to the French ambassador in Kinshasa after the residence of a French diplomat was stormed by police officers, court officials and "plaintiffs" involved in a land dispute with the embassy, privately-owned Actualite news website reported.According to Actualite, the residence of the French cultural affairs counsellor was "broken into and emptied of its furniture" on August 23rd by police officers sent to evict the diplomat from the house.The French official was hospitalised after being assaulted.
