Adding the fourth dimension to computed tomography neck in the evaluation of parathyroid adenoma

Abstract: Parathyroid adenomas are the most common cause of primary hyperparathyroidism. Various imaging modalities such as ultrasound, nuclear medicine imaging studies, and multiphase computed tomography (also known as “four-dimensional” [4D] CT) are the most often used and highly approved imaging modalities for pre-operative diagnosis and localization of adenomas. Accurate pre-operative imaging is of prime importance to facilitate surgery, which is the definitive management, and 4D CT proves to be advantageous.
