Abstract: German civic education has undergone a complex development process and has a long history. Through the analysis and study of the basic profile of German civic education, it is clear that the characteristics of German civic education: focusing on the democratic nature of education, focusing on the practical experience of the citizens, emphasizing the citizens’ sense of rights and responsibilities and strengthening the influence of religious education, has a multifaceted significance for promoting the further development of the theory and practice of ideological and political education in China.
