Abstract: The article deals with the creation and development of the scientific school “Legal regulation of the execution and serving of criminal penalties”, functioning at the penal law and the organization of educational work with convicts department. Considerable attention is paid to the founder of the scientific school, Doctor of Law, Professor M. P. Melentyev. The individual scientific directions developing within the framework of the scientific school in modern conditions are revealed, attention is focused on promising areas of development of the scientific school.
