Abstract: In the past, the transmission network was generally considered to be in a three-phase equilibrium state, and the analysis of the three-phase unbalance problem was mainly focused on the distribution network. However, with the development of new energy, when new energy sources such as wind power are connected to the transmission network, non-commutation long transmission lines are often used, resulting in unbalanced line parameters in the transmission network. It can be seen that the study of a reliable three-phase power flow algorithm for transmission and distribution (T&D) systems is becoming more and more important for the reliable operation and development of new power systems. At present, there are many three-phase power flow algorithms. The Newton Raphson method (NRM) and its variants occupy a mainstream position, due to their strong ability in dealing with the characteristics of multiple sources and looped sub-networks of emerging power systems. However, NRM based methods are sensitive to the initial value, and it is difficult to ensure convergence to a physically meaningful solution when initial values are not appropriate, making NRM based methods no longer perfectly suitable for T&D systems with increasingly serious three-phase unbalance problems. To this end, based on the advantages of the holomorphic embedding method (HEM), such as independence to the initial value, high computational efficiency, and reliable convergence ability, this paper proposes a general three-phase power flow algorithm for T&D system. The case study verifies the advantages of high efficiency, strong convergence ability, and insensitivity to the initial value of the proposed method has .
