Optimizing Activity and Stability in AgCl‐CuO Electrocatalysts: Insights from Different Morphologies for Enhanced ORR Performance
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Highly enduring and methanol‐tolerant electrocatalysts are pertinent to revolutionizing direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) technologies. Transition‐metal‐based electrocatalysts are anticipated to rank among the remarkable electrocatalysts for boosting the sluggish oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) kinetics. In this study, we report a facile approach to optimize the activity and stability of the AgCl‐CuO systems. The tailored nanoparticle–nanorod (NP–NR) and nanoleaf (NL) like morphologies deliver remarkable bifunctional catalytic performance for oxygen reduction and hydrogen evolution reactions, sustained activity, and comparatively better stability for ORR. A meager shift of only 0.014 and 0.024 V in the half‐wave potential is observed in the NP‐NR and NL structures, respectively, for the ORR even after 2500 cycles. Furthermore, both the AgCl‐CuO composite exhibit an excellent tolerance to methanol.
