Abstract: Translators play a very important role in the exchanges between Chinese and foreign civilizations and in the translation of Chinese culture to foreign countries. The Swiss sinologist Eva Lüdi Kong devotes herself to translating Chinese classics into German and makes outstanding contributions to the dissemination of Chinese culture in the German-speaking world. This study takes the course of Eva Lüdi Kong’s translation of Xiyou Ji and Qianzi Wen as a clue and analyzes her translation activities from three aspects, namely, “what to translate,” “how to translate,” and “how to promote,” to explore her love, earnestness, and conveyance in translating Chinese classic works.
