Preparing the Ground: The Landscape Transect

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: While the sectional transect is a powerful visualization tool in contemporary landscape practice, its status is often relegated behind other, more conventional types of representations like the plan and the perspective. Spanning 500 years, this brief history of the landscape transect considers a series examples both within and outside the field that highlight new and innovative ways of working that function as an itinerary through, a means of experiencing, inventorying, and even speculating on, the landscape.
