Abstract: English summary How can the working conditions of a dentist affect the moral decisions a dentist makes in the clinic? Nor Tannlegeforen Tid. 2024; 134: 818-27. How can the working conditions of a dentist affect the moral decisions a dentist makes in the clinic? This is the main question in this article, where we start with a specific morally challenging case from a dentist’s workplace. By applying a systematic model of ethics reflection (SME), we attempt to elucidate and answer the question. We want to show how to arrive at well-founded decisions in a difficult work situation. By focusing on increased ethical awareness, we want to help dentists maintain their professional integrity and autonomy. The choices one makes, also in everyday working life, can determine how one as a dentist practice one’s profession.
