The submucosal pinch technique: a novel traction method for large colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for large colorectal lesions remains a challenging procedure.1 As a strategy for colonic ESD, using gravity or traction devices to improve the visibility of the submucosal layer is effective.2-4 However, the submucosal stretching effect is diminished, particularly in the case of large lesions. This is because as the dissected part enlarges, the lesion comes into contact with the opposite wall and there is no space for making adequate traction. To address this, the “SureClip Traction Band” (Micro-Tech, Nanjing, China) can be used to gather both ends of the dissected part as if pinching the portion, reducing its size, and providing traction to both sides of the submucosal layer.
