We are currently investigating for local damaging earthquakes, as well as major ones. This report focuses on the 1999 earthquake off Kisakata, Akita Prefecture. This earthquake occurred near the coast of the border between Akita and Yamagata prefectures and was far away from the both capitals and people’s interest has faded. The damage is rearranged on the 25th anniversary, and the full extent of the damage across both prefectures is clarified.
