Abstract: The increasing global emphasis on sustainability has driven the transportation sector to adopt green logistics practices, especially in freight transport, to reduce environmental impact. This study explores the green logistics practices implemented at V.O.Chidambaranar (VOC) Port Authority in Tuticorin, a major player in India's maritime trade.VOC Port, being a key logistics hub, plays a significant role in ensuring sustainable freight transport, making it an ideal case for evaluating the integration of eco-friendly strategies in port operations. The research examines various green logistics practices at VOC Port, such as the use of energy-efficient equipment, reduction of carbon emissions, optimization of freight movement, waste management, and adherence to environmental regulations. It also assesses how the port incorporates technological advancements, like automated systems and alternative energy sources, to improve efficiency while minimizing environmental harm.Furthermore, the study analyses the economic and operational benefits of these green logistics measures, such as cost reductions through improved fuel efficiency, decreased operational downtime, and compliance with global environmental standards.
