Character association and path analysis for yield and its attributing traits among urdbean landraces

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: In the present study, character association and path analysis were studied among 23 urdbean genotypes for 11 quantitative traits. Correlation analysis divulged that seed yield/plant proclaimed a significant positive relationship between branches/plant, biological yield/plant, pods/plant, and pod length at both genotypic and phenotypic levels and also showed a direct effect on yield. Biological yield/plant, branches/plant and pods/plant had the most beneficial direct and indirect influences on the overall relationship between yield and other component attributes, indicating the high inter-dependent interaction among these traits. Therefore, these characteristics could be considered as optimum selection indices on a priority basis, which would be remarkable for improving genotype efficiency during genetic improvement.
