Abstract: This study investigates the relationship between trade openness and agricultural export performance in Nigeria. Utilizing an Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model, the analysis examines the short-run and long-run effects of trade openness on the agricultural export sector. Empirical findings reveal a significant positive correlation between trade openness and agricultural export performance. The study underscores the importance of trade liberalization in enhancing the competitiveness of Nigeria’s agricultural exports in the global market. However, it also highlights the need for complementary policies to address infrastructure, institutional challenges, and exchange rate volatility to fully maximize the benefits of trade openness.
