Centring lived experience of homelessness in law and policy reform
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: This reflective work considers homelessness and provides a model of participation for improving homelessness responses through StreetCare, a NSW-based advisory committee of people with diverse lived experiences of homelessness. StreetCare provides unique, essential and pertinent advice to relevant stakeholders in the housing and homelessness sector at the local, state and national level. Through the example of StreetCare, this piece explains how the participation of those with lived experience in reform contributes to better outcomes, to the empowerment of lived experience advocates, and to more equitable laws.
