Abstract: The purpose and principles of operation of a civil aircraft emergency system including a power transfer unit are considered. Problems and trends of the development of piston hydraulic machines in aircraft construction are analyzed. The parameters of power transfer units used on 12 types of passenger airplanes are analyzed. The scenarios of failure of power transmission units are considered. The main directions of solving the problems of operation, as well as the requirements to design and testing are outlined.
