Abstract: Sleep requirements vary with age, influencing optimal health. Insufficient sleep poses serious health risks, particularly with the rise of smartphone use and concerns about its impact on sleep. This study investigates the association between internet addiction (IA), a growing socio-medical condition, and quality of sleep among young adults aged 18–30 years. Using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Internet Addiction Test (IAT). It is an observational study conducted on 103 participants from Chalapathi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Andhra Pradesh. Data were collected from April to July 2024. Results showed that 62.1% of subjects were free from internet addiction, while just over a third exhibited low to moderate IA levels. Statistically significant differences in the quality of sleep across different IA levels were found (F = 136.76, p < 0.05). A low to moderate positive correlation (r = 0.355) revealed that poor sleep quality is associated with highest internet addiction. Gender differences in IA levels, though present, were not statistically significant. The findings from the suggest that mild-to-moderate IA has a moderating effect on sleep quality, influenced by factors like academic stress and menstrual issues. Addressing sleep disorders through a holistic approach may offer potential intervention pathways.
