Abstract: This research focuses on understanding the design collaboration process through students’ reflections on working with professional clients to design interfaces. This utilizes a qualitative approach to analyze collaboration between students and clients and how these experiences influence students' perception of design, their identities as designers, and their future design work. This provides insights to designers, educators, and other stakeholders—such as non-profit and industry clients interested in leveraging students for design work— structure and organize the collaboration process for maximizing the quality of work output and learning opportunities.
