Abstract: Skin tear is a trauma that occurs in individuals with weakened skin due to various factors, and the initial treatment can significantly affect the subsequent healing process. We developed and used a skin tear manual with video, for educational purposes to promote appropriate initial treatment of skin tears. Data on skin tear was collected over two years to assess changes prompted by the introduction of the manual. The introduction of the manual increased awareness of skin tears and early intervention and led to seeking professional help. Furthermore, the data suggested that ongoing educational activities could enhance the preventive effect against skin tears.
