Proposal of Wind Force Scale Based on Wind Speed Measurement and Free-text Description by Local Residents
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: We distributed portable anemometers to the residents of Musashi-Kosugi area, Kawasaki city, Kanagawa prefecture and conducted a field investigation concerning the wind environment. The participants were asked to measure wind speed anytime anywhere in the Musashi-Kosugi area and freely describe the things they observed and their impression about the wind at that time. Using the wind speed data measured by the participants and the descriptive information (i.e. impression on the things they saw and the wind), a new wind force scale was proposed.
